After earning his degree at the Kossuth Lajos University in Debrecen in 1972 he aquired an MA in Economics from the University of Economics in Budapest (Karl Marx University at that time) in 1990. He also holds a PhD degree from the same university. He has more than 30 years experience in computer technology. He started his career at the SZÜV in Debrecen where he held several positions, he had been deputy manager for more than 10 years. He founded Kovex-Computer Ltd. in 1989 and has been its managing director. Besides his business career he has been teaching at the University of Debrecen (formerly Kossuth Lajos University) since 1974. He earned the title of assistant professor in 1990. Between 1991 and 1994 he was the local President of the John von Neumann Computer Society.
