Kéri György - Hungary

Title: CEO and CSO of Vichem Chemie Research Ltd

keriFounder CEO and CSO of Vichem Chemie Research Ltd., which is engaged in developing kinase inhibitors; Head of Peptide Biochemistry research Group of Hung Acad Sci at Semmelweis Universty, and President of Rational Drug Design Laboratories Cooperation Center. He is a chemist by profession and got his PhD from biochemistry in 1976 at Eötvös University of Sciences, Budapest, and was a post doc in 1978-1979 with Prof. J. Ramachandran, University of California, San Francisco. He was visiting Scientist in the United States 19 times for various time periods on the bases a joint research grants with UCSF and on scientific collaborations with UCSF and Genentech and Sugen. He has founded Biosignal Ltd. in 1992, to utilize and develop his signal inhibiting somatostatin peptide compound (TT232) which has reached phase II. Clinical trials and was recently licensed to Caprion Pharmaceuticals. He has been collaborating with Prof. Axel Ullrich (chief scientist of Genetech, MPI and Sugen) for more than 20 years on developing kinase inhibitors. He was advisor and collaborative partner of Sugen Inc between 1992-1999 and Axxima Pharmaceuticals between 1999 and 2005. He is currently working together with GPC Biotech. He was involved in the development of SU101, which has reached Phase III. Clinical trial at SUgen. He has developed the Nested Chemical Library Technology in Biosignal and later on at Vichem which is a unique technology of lead finding and optimization in the kinase field. He has also participated in the development of the KinaTor technology for selectivity profiling of kinase inhibitors. He has received 2 International and 5 Hungarian awards, published 120 scientific papers has 61 international patents.
