INFORMATION ABOUT READ – GENE SA

Read-Gene SA is an Intellectual Property company set up in September 2005 to promote a worldwide deployment of genetic cancer tests, supplements, drugs and protocols for prevention, surveillance and treatment of the most common forms of cancer such as cancer of the breast, ovary, colon and prostate. These tests, supplements, drugs and methods are based on the pioneering research, extensive data-gathering and large-scale testing in cancer genetics carried out by its founders in Poland for more than ten years. Read-Gene CEO, Professor Jan Lubinski, has created an International Hereditary Cancer Center (IHCC) at the Pomeranian Medical University in 1992. IHCC combines basic and applied research with clinical practice. Its achievement include:
  • the largest cancer data and biobank in the world, comprising close to 2,000,000 personal records and over 185,000 DNA samples including diagnosed carriers of mutations / polymorphisms in > 4,200 BRCA1 and > 21,000 CHK2, NOD2, CDKN2A, CYP1B1, NBS1, p53, FGFR, TNR and other genes
  • launch of nationwide network of 22 hereditary cancer detection centres located across Poland. This network carries out about 1,000 tests a day, at an average cost of 40 euros. Most of these tests is based on IHCC discoveries
  • 3 Polish & 3 American patents accepted; more than 10 additional patent applications for genetic cancer discoveries
Read-Gene has an exclusive agreement with the Pomeranian Medical University to licence the relevant Intellectual Property (IP) including:
  • Genetic detection tests most frequently occurring such as cancers of the breast, ovary, prostate, stomach and colon,
  • Promising preventive treatments for breast cancer.
  • Databases of genetic histories and DNA samples as well as the methodology of collating and exploiting these records.
  • Clinical trials on cancer patients with identified genetic changes associated with increased risk of cancer, e.g. testing of drug activity on patients with BRCA1 mutation.

Read-Gene can also provide design and support services for cancer genetic outpatient clinics.
Read-Gene approach significantly increases the probability of prevention, early detection and treatment and therefore massively reduces oncology costs. Its business model is predicated on a rapid large-scale deployment of genetic tests, supplements, drugs and management protocols at a low unit cost.
