2009-11-30 Celon Pharma introduces 6 innovative medicines

Polish biopharmaceutical company Celon Pharma plans introducing 6 new drugs for innovative siRNA therapy. In the result the company will double its product portfolio.

The first four pharmaceuticals are planned to be initiated at the market by the end of the first quarter of 2010. They will be applied in such fields as oncology, cardiology, psychiatry. The company is going to commercialize the next two drugs by the end of the second quarter of the next year.
As a result of these operations the company board expects at least a double profit.

“This is an effect of our strategy, we assumed that in the next few years we will become one of the largest producer of oncology drugs based on the technology developed in our laboratories” – commented Maciej Wieczorek, Celon Pharma CEO. “Thus, next year we plan starting first phase clinical trials of the siRNA technology drugs. We claim that broader portfolio will allow us for easier financing of research on the further new medicines” – he adds.

Celon Pharma has received 70mlnPLN fund in the frame of European Union programme. The support was assigned for carrying 14 R&D projects on innovative pharmaceuticals against cancer, metabolic diseases (diabetes), neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer).
