2009-12-07 Conference on investments in Poland

Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency is a host of the conference “Legal barriers in inflow of direct foreign investments to Poland”. The event took place on 4th December in Warsaw.

The conference was concentrated on the subject of obstacles that are encountered by foreign investors in Poland. Speakers touched such subjects as: legalization of foreigners residence in the country, national tax law, regulations of public-private partnership, investments in renewable source of energy.

Foreign direct investments (FDI) are recognized as important growth factor for economy development of the host country. Investors carry in technologies, managing techniques and know-how, create new job positions.
Polish FDI reached 10.8milliardEUR in 2008. Regarding economic freedom Poland took 72th position per 183 classified countries. The investment climate was estimated at 3.3 points in 5 points scale by businessmen, what was slightly higher than in the previous years. However, there are still some changes to be made in Polish law to more efficiently encourage foreign investments.
