2009-11-18 Innovative Polish biotech company converted to joint stock

Lodz company Mabion has been converted to joint stock in October and plans entering NewConnect market as the next step. The company is currently carrying advanced research and is developing human resources, what requires high cost investments.

Mabion is a biotech company established by four pharmaceutical companies, Celon Pharma Sp. z o.o., Polfarmex S.A., Genexo Sp. z o.o., IBSS Biomed S.A., and two biotech companies, BioCentrum Sp. z o.o, Biotech Consulting Sp. z o.o., all originated in Poland. Mabion exists in the market since March 2007 and concentrates its activities on production of innovative biotech medicines – humanized monoclonal antibodies.

One of the company aims is offering medical preparations, which are more available price-wise but of high treatment quality in the same time.

Humanized monoclonal antibodies are the fastest developing area of biotechnology today. Number of applications in medicine seem to be unlimited – said Maciej Wieczorek, Mabion S.A. CEO. Sale of pharmaceuticals based on the monoclonal antibodies maintains two times higher growth rate to other biotech drugs. It is enough to say that world market of the first two monoclonal antibodies that we work on amounts to almost 10 milliards USD, he added.
