2009-11-03 Molecular Biotechnology for Health

Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology of Jagiellonian University in Cracow will be modernized within the project ‘Molecular Biotechnology for Health’.

In a consequence, the new laboratories established will enable work on innovative medicines and diagnostic methods, as well as development of biomedicine in general.

Seven new laboratories complementing present research infrastructure will be created, together with a modern animal facility. The research units will specialize in such topics as proteomics, cell biophysics, immunology, virology, cell culture.

The project received support in the frame of the EU Innovative Economy programme 2.1. ‘Development of centres of high research potential’. The fund of the project amounts to 28 millions PLN for implementation in 2009-2012.

By broadening field of expertise the Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology department will be able to start new interdisciplinary projects.
