2009-10-29 Bioton puts up for sale a plant in Russia to invest in insulin

Innovative company Bioton together with its Russian partner, ZAO Bioton Wostok, signed contract with Sanofi Aventis for selling a factory in Russian Orle.

Sum of transaction amounted to 28mln EUR, which will be invested in insulin production in Macierzysz and in reduction of debt in order to reach the level declared to financial markets and shareholders.

Development of sales system for human insulin Gensulin is a strategic goal for Bioton.
The strategy assumes product distribution through local pharmaceutical companies having established market and sales networks. It already functions at the Chinese market and its expansion is planned for Russia, other countries of Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as for Asia and Pacific markets.

By the time of finding the strategic partner in Russia for insulin, Gensulin is sold via developed network of local distributors.
