2009-04-29 Poland: Service of DNA microarrays analysis available in Poznan

DNA Research Centre from Poznan has broadened list of offered services with commercial diagnostics of diseases and genetic predispositions based on DNA microarrays.

Presently, the Centre collaborates with Estonian company what extends waiting for results to 6-8 weeks. This situation is supposed to change in autumn, when the whole process is planned to be carried in Poznan laboratories, shortening the expectation time to few days.

Mr Jan Niechwiadowicz from the DNA Research Centre shares the plans of directing the Centre’s offer to both individual clients and genetic clinics with diagnostic centres.

Use of DNA microarrays enables analysis of practically whole genome of the investigated organism in a single experiment. The arrays are applied for investigations on mechanisms of diseases as well as risk evaluations of development of genetic diseases. This method enables early and precise diagnosis and adjustment of treatment to individual patient.

Poznan DNA Research Centre is now able to test genetic predisposition to such diseases as mucoviscidosis, inheritable breast and ovarian cancer, Usher syndrome.
