2009-04-24 Poland: Innovative pharmaceutical company releases new generic drug

We find new generic produced by Celon Pharma already on the market, of trade name Valzek. The drug is an analogue of Diovan, which contains active ingredient walsartan - angiotensin II receptor antagonist, acting among others against hypertension.

The company is currently going to register 6 more generic drugs.

Celon Pharma’s representative, Bogdan Manowski, presently supposes that due to high demand for such products, its monthly sale should reach 2mln PLN.
For the result company has extended promotional activities by employing 70 sale representatives (clinical research experts), who will concentrate just on Valzek.

The company, however, does not leave behind innovative projects.
Currently, there are ten projects concentrated on development of new compounds for application in metabolic, cardiovascular and oncological diseases. The research is financed mainly from sale of generic drugs, and also from EU funding. Mr Manowski explains that because of a refund character of EU support Celon Pharma requires first its own financing.
