2009-04-16 Poland: Biogas production as new activity of Polish biotech company

A&A Biotechnology from Gdynia extends its scope of activity to research on microorganisms for biogas production. By now, they have been specialized in development of molecular biology tools.
The company is Polish representation in European project Glyfinery (www.glyfinery.net ) aiming at development of novel technology for biological conversion of waste glycerol into liquid biogas, bioenergy and green chemicals.

The task for A&A Biotechnology encloses strain isolation, its modification and lab-scale fermentation for green chemicals production. The studies will be financed with half of million EUR grant, which has been also already invested in two new employees and laboratory equipment such as several fermentors, HPLC and gas chromatography system.
