2009-03-06 Poland: Bioton clears last hurdle in China

Bioton, the listed biotech firm, has received regulatory approvals from China’s Food and Drug Agency for the marketing of two further forms of recombinant human insulin in the Asian country, the company said in a statement on 2 March.

The decision by Chinese authorities means Bioton now has received market authorisations for all its forms of insulin, after a similar decision in May 2008. The company is preparing to launch the products on the Chinese market in the second quarter of this year. Hefei-SciGen-Bioton Biopharmaceutical Company Ltd, a three-way joint venture in which Bioton owns a 24% stake, is building a factory in the Anhui province that will supply the Chinese market and other markets in Asia.
