2009-02-20 Poland: Bioton has to wait for the registration of Biferonex

The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), the scientific committee of the European Medicines Agency (EMEA)adopted negative opinion recommending to grant a marketing authorization for Biferonex, used for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.

BioPartners, a subsidiary of Bioton company will make a motion for reexamination of the recommendations issued by the CHMP. The proceedings to obtain a positive opinion on Biferonex will last approximately 5 months. This is not optimistic news for the investors of the company.
