2009-02-17 Hungary: 16.3% revenue rise of Egis Ltd.

EGIS Pharmaceuticals Ltd. reported earnings results for the first quarter ended December 31, 2008. For the quarter, the company had unconsolidated IFRS net profit of HUF 5.62 billion in the first quarter ended December 31, 2008, doubling from HUF 2.79 billion in the same period a year earlier as revenue rose and costs fell because of changes to the company's export product mix. Net profit was slightly more than the HUF 5.55 billion estimate in a poll of analysts by portfolio.hu. Earnings per share came to HUF 722, up from HUF 359 in the same period a year earlier. Revenue rose 16.3% to HUF 28.51 billion.

Direct investments of EGIS Ltd. include 21 subsidiaries, seven in Hungary, 14 abroad. EGIS Pharmaceuticals PLC engages in the manufacture and sale of pharmaceutical and active pharmaceutical ingredients. EGIS Pharmaceuticals PLC markets its products primarily in Hungary, Russia, the United States, France, Japan, and Brazil. It has a strategic partnership with Servier. The company was founded in 1865 and is headquartered in Budapest, Hungary. EGIS Pharmaceuticals PLC is a subsidiary on ATP (Servier).
