2008-10-21 A new Center of Bio-and Nanotechnology (CBNT) to be established in Lodz.
Technical University of Lodz together with Polish Academy of Sciences and other academies form Lodz are involved in the initiative to create the CBNT. The center is supposed to support the transfer of knowledge by mediating contacts of scientists and both local and international biotechnological and pharmaceutical companies.
There are three areas of knowledge: energy, medicine and environmental protection, are expected to be the core interest of the CBNT.
“The research in CBNT is supposed to be focused on: theoretical studies, processing and production of materials, testing of prototypes and their implementation “- said professor. Jacek Ula?ski.
”Center will work in line with the leading centers of scientific research in the world and according to the priorities of the EU Framework Program for research.” - said professor. Jacek Ula?ski (CBNT agent). – “Due to the rapid advance in biotechnology and nanotechnology, our research programs would be kept up to date, and for the implementation of specific projects research and implementation consortia will be created”.
CBNT will be controlled by the Scientific Council comprising Polish scientists. An additional control tool will be the International Advisory Committee (MKD), composed of scientists from abroad and the Industry Council. MKD will be chaired by Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, one of candidates for the Nobel Prize.
