2008-10-09 Polish biotechnology develops wings and enters the international arena.Recently announced participation of Poles in the Swedish seminar, will accompany the 4th BIO-Angstrom Conference New Diagnostics - Needs, Demands and Technical Solutions, proves increasing significance of Polish biotechnology in the international arena. It appears, however, that Polish biotechnology has also sought to be overseas. Representatives of Poland are going to Bio International Convention 2009 in Atlanta. It's the biggest international event, gathering leaders of world biobusiness and biotechnology.
“Currently we have ongoing discussion with PAIZ (Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency). If they are successfully completed, we will present a Polish Pavilon, which is going to cover 50 quadratmeters” - said CEO of Jagiellonian Centre of Innovation, Pawel Blachno. "We have already booked a place on Bio International Convention and we want to interest PAIZ. If we're able to go with their patronage, then we will participate in the event in the Polish Pavilion as LifeScience Cluster Krakow of Poland and Polish Technology Platform of Biotechnology, and PAIZ will be presented as their member. For the last two years JCI has been the Cluster Administrator, and recently it became also the administrator of PPTB. That will facilitate coordinate, assure organizational support for companies and bioregions presented in the Polish Pavilion".
If PAIZ is not decided to participate in the event, we will present the Cluster and PPTB together with their members. To success in a large and prestigious as BioConvention, it is necessary to have support and involvement of Polish authorities. We hope to have it.
On Bio International Convention 2009 Poland will be represented by LifeSciences Cluster Krakow, Polish Technology Platform of Biotechnology and Bio-Tech Consulting from Lodz. Pomeranian BioBaltica and EIT+ from Wroclaw are also planning to participate in the event.
The annual event will include hundreds of sessions. So far there are 170 sessions scheduled for next year event. Bio International Convention 2008 focused 20,108 biotechnology industry leaders (representing an increase of 36 percent compared to 2001). Participants from over 70 countries took part in the event .
