2008-09-25 Sanitas opens new pharmacy plant in Kaunas
The biggest Lithuanian pharmacy company Sanitas, which owns Slovakian pharmacy factory Hoechst-Biotika and Polish pharmacy company Jelfa, opened a new plant in Aleksotas, Kaunas on Tuesday. Production and administrative premises will be installed there as well as a laboratory and storehouses.

Moreover, we will be able to introduce new medicaments on the market."
According to Sanitas head, the capacity of the new plant, where 190 people will be employed, will reach 300 million of pills, 50 million of capsules and 50 of million ampoules as well as 15 million of disposable syringes filled with medicaments and 15 million of eye drops over a year.
The project was started in 2005. A total of 16.1 million litas (4.58 million euros) of assistance from EU structural funds was used. The total value of the project reached 68 million litas (19.35 million euros).
